Terms and booking policy

Who these terms cover

These terms apply to coaching, Room Reviews and speechwriting from Life is a Speech Limited (“I”, “me”). By booking or paying, you agree to them. Questions? Email richard@lifeisaspeech.com.

Booking a session

When you choose a time for a Room Review, you are sending a request. It is not booked until I approve it, which I aim to do within 24 hours. I will then email you to confirm, with a link to pay and the Zoom link.

If I cannot do the time you asked for, I will say so and offer another. You are not charged for a request I decline.

Sessions are held online on Zoom unless we have agreed something else in writing.

Payment

Paid sessions are paid online once I have approved your request, and before the session takes place. The price is the one shown when you asked. Prices are in pounds sterling. Any other currency shown on the site is a guide only, and your bank sets the final rate. Speechwriting and larger projects are quoted before we start, and I may ask for a deposit.

Cancelling and rescheduling

  • Cancel or move a session with at least 24 hours' notice and you can rebook at no charge, or have a full refund.
  • With less than 24 hours' notice, or if you do not turn up, the session is charged. I may agree to move it if I can fill the slot or if there is a good reason.
  • If I need to cancel or move a session, you choose a new time or a full refund.
  • If you are more than 15 minutes late, the session still ends at the agreed time.

Your right to cancel

If you are a consumer and book online, you normally have 14 days to cancel a service. If you ask me to start before that period ends, which includes booking a session within 14 days, you agree the right to cancel ends once the service has been fully delivered, and if you cancel part way through you pay for what has been done.

Free calls and the free Read

Discovery calls and the Stage Intelligence Read are free. They give a snapshot and a suggested next step. They are not a promise of any result.

Speeches and written work

Speeches and written work are written for you to deliver. Once paid in full, you can use them as you wish. I may keep a copy for my records. I will not publish your speech or personal stories without your permission.

Revisions: your speech includes the rounds of changes agreed in the quote. Further changes may be charged.

Confidentiality

What you share in sessions stays private. I do not name clients or share their material without permission. How I handle your personal details is in the privacy policy.

What coaching can and cannot do

I give honest feedback and practical tools. Results depend on you and on the audience, so I cannot guarantee a particular outcome, such as winning a pitch or a job. Coaching is not therapy, and it is not medical, legal or financial advice.

Recordings

I do not record sessions unless you ask and we agree first. Please do not record sessions without asking me.

If something goes wrong

If you are unhappy, tell me and I will try to put it right. Nothing in these terms limits your legal rights, or my liability for anything the law does not allow me to limit.

Changes and law

I may update these terms. The terms in place when you book are the ones that apply to that booking. They are governed by the law of England and Wales.
