Brilliant ideas. Mixed results.
When your work depends on nuance, a message that is too dense gets ignored and one that is too simple loses trust. The aim is to keep the substance and make it easier to follow.

Fictional teaching example
Same expertise. A stronger impact.
The goal isn’t to simplify your thinking. It’s to make it accessible and meaningful to the people who need to hear it.
Before
“Our proposed approach addresses the challenges of cross-functional information transfer through improved procedural alignment, defined responsibilities and a more consistent framework for communicating decisions.”
After
“Teams lose track of decisions when information doesn’t pass cleanly between them. We propose three changes: a shared procedure, defined responsibilities and a consistent way to communicate each decision.”
A fictional teaching example. Not client work.
The revised version starts with the audience’s problem, makes the proposed changes clear and preserves the substance of the original.
- The central point The first sentence now states the problem in words a non-specialist can repeat.
- The evidence is unchanged Procedure, responsibilities and a consistent framework are all still there. Nothing was added or removed.
- The audience consequence A listener can now see why it matters and what is being proposed, before any detail arrives.

The coach
You bring the expertise. I help it reach people.
Your subject is yours. My job is the part around it: the message, the order of ideas, how you explain it to different listeners and how you handle questions. I don’t ask you to become a performer. I help you sound like the expert you are.
- 20+years in global business
- 1,700+people coached
Broad credentials across all my coaching, not a count of research clients.

How we work
From expertise to real-world impact.
A practical process to help you shape your message, practise your delivery and communicate with confidence when it matters.
Discovery
Understanding the idea and the room.
We explore your expertise, your audience and the point you need to make.
We start with what you are trying to achieve and who needs to hear it. We look at the idea itself, the people in the room and what they already know. Then we find where your current approach is losing clarity, whether that is too much background up front, jargon that only specialists share, or a point that arrives too late. You leave this stage knowing the one thing your audience must take away, and what is getting in its way.
Development
Finding the story inside the expertise.
We shape your message, structure and supporting examples.
Now we build the message. We choose the central argument, then decide which evidence, examples and stories earn their place and which can wait for the questions. We work on the order of ideas, the transitions between them and the plain language that carries them. Nothing is stripped of substance. The aim is a structure your listener can follow the first time, so the depth you bring is easier to see, not harder.
Dynamics
Making the communication work under pressure.
We rehearse presentations, interviews and challenging conversations.
This is where we test the message under real conditions. You rehearse the presentation, the interview or the difficult conversation aloud, with honest feedback after each run. We practise different versions for different listeners, and we work on questions you hope not to get. The point is to find out what holds when the room changes, so you can bring the conversation back to your central point without sounding rehearsed.
Delivery
Communicating with confidence and impact.
You prepare to deliver naturally, clearly and credibly.
The last stage is about the moment itself. We refine the final talk or conversation, the opening, the pacing and the way you finish. We also agree a simple plan for the day: what to say first, how to settle your nerves and how to recover if something goes off script. You go in prepared, clear on your message and able to speak in your own voice, with a clear next step once the moment has passed.

Questions
Your questions, answered.
Lead with why it matters to them, then give one idea at a time in plain words. Cut the detail that only your peers need. A coach can listen as a newcomer and tell you where you lost them.

The important point gets buried.
You know your subject, but the detail can obscure the message.
Different audiences need different explanations.
What works with specialists may not land with everyone else.
Interviews and questions take the conversation off course.
A valuable point can disappear when the conversation takes an unexpected turn.
People understand the idea but don’t know what to do next.

Illustrative scenario · Not a completed coaching engagement
Deep expertise. A message people could follow.
The situation
Maya had extensive knowledge of her subject and important ideas to share.
But her explanations could become dense, leaving the main point buried in detail.
She wanted to communicate with broader audiences without losing the intellectual substance of her work.
What the coaching addressed
- Identifying her central message
- Developing a coherent narrative
- Finding useful stories and examples
- Preparing for questions and interviews
- Rehearsing for different audiences
Illustrative outcome
A clearer way to communicate her ideas, a stronger structure for presentations and more confidence when adapting her message to different listeners.
This is a hypothetical example, not a statement of achieved client results. This is a teaching scenario. A real, permissioned case study will replace it when one is available.

Insights for experts and thought leaders
A few practical ideas for making complex communication clearer and more compelling.
Explaining complex ideas to non-specialists
Start with what your audience needs to understand, not everything you’ve spent years learning.
Read the 60-second version
- Finish this sentence in under twenty words: “The one thing I want you to remember is…”
- Check that a non-specialist could repeat it back to you.
- Add detail only where it helps that point. Everything else can wait for questions.
Creating a stronger message without losing substance
One clear argument can make detailed supporting evidence easier to understand and remember.
Read the 60-second version
- Write your main point first, as a single claim.
- Place each piece of evidence beneath it and ask what it proves.
- If a detail doesn’t support the claim, move it to the question-and-answer.
Preparing for challenging questions
Identify the difficult questions in advance and practise answering them without losing your central point.
Read the 60-second version
- List the three questions you would least like to be asked.
- Answer each in two sentences, out loud.
- Finish every answer by returning to your central point.
Your questions, answered.
Lead with why it matters to them, then give one idea at a time in plain words. Cut the detail that only your peers need. A coach can listen as a newcomer and tell you where you lost them.
